Why Can AI Art Be Damaging To Artists?

In a world where technology is rapidly transforming, there are new software’s and techniques popping up left, right, and centre. AI Art, also known as Artificial Intelligence, is a modern type of digital art that can be damaging to the art industry. Today at Paint Away Events, we are going to be sharing some information about our thoughts on Artificial Intelligence in the art industry.

AI has definitely caught people’s attention on social media. Different filters and apps allow users to create detailed and creative edits of themselves. The most recent one is a filter on TikTok that allows TikTokers to create a version of themselves as kings, queens, etc.

Yes, it’s impressive what technology can do for us now, but there is the realisation that traditional and physical art is now being washed out due to the less effort that AI takes. While some people don’t mind this new technology, there are artists in the world that have dedicated their lives to art that are concerned about their careers in this field.

Artists feel that AI creations devalue the true meaning of art and the decreasing number of sales because AI technology is mostly free to use.

Over the last 8 years, we have seen other AI but don’t often realise it’s actually AI. For example, Snapchat filters and Face Tune edits are technically classed as Artificial Intelligence!

There has been copied art through AI effects which is another reason why it’s deflating for artists. This form of digital art will allow users to create a free or very low-costing piece of art in minutes, which sometimes rips off other artists’ work which can take 10x longer.

The appreciation of art is decreasing along with the fundamental skills to becoming an artist.

Here at Paint Away Events, we pride ourselves on encouraging our visitors to create a piece of professional art no matter their skill level or desire to pursue painting after the event. We offer a relaxing and fun session of traditional painting and sipping on some tasty drinks.
